Caring for Stray Dogs in Sri Lanka

In the Northeast of Sri Lanka, an organization called Underdogs Sri Lanka is devoted to improving the lives of street and beach dogs. Their focus is the rescue, rehabilitation, sterilization, vaccination, and rehoming of stray dogs in urgent need. Elisabetta Mancuso founded this organization out of concern for the stray dogs she saw, and she continues to lead the organization. She dedicatedly serves the community through her efforts to conserve the dog population by catering to any and every stray dog she can via ensuring a continuous supply of medical equipment, professionals, rehab facilities, food, and new homes for the rescued dogs. So far, under Mancuso’s leadership, the organization has been able to rescue over 250 stray dogs, sterilized over 350 dogs and re-homed around 25 as well.
