Rescuing During Floods

Starting in July 2021, severe rainfall created a dangerous situation in Henan, China. Ten cities, including Zhengzhou, Jiaozuo and Xinxiang, experienced historic levels of rain and flooding, resulting in 100,000 evacuations and at least 25 deaths.

In Zhengzhou, the provincial capital, a yearly average of rain fell in just 3 days, multiple dams have reached warning levels, and soldiers diverted water from breached rivers. The rain overwhelmed the city’s flood defenses and ran into the underground railway tunnels, trapping commuters inside.

The China Charity Foundation has been playing a crucial role in responding to this disaster. In partnership with the Blue Sky Rescue Team, they launched an operation which dispatched 1,112 people in Zhengzhou City, Zhongmou, Xinmi, Xinzheng, Gongyi, Xingyang, Xinxiang, Jiaozuo, Luoyang to cooperate with the government to search for and rescue trapped people. According to preliminary statistics, the operation relocated more than 3,000 people and delivered 45 tons of relief supplies.

To continue providing support to the citizens of Henan in this critical moment, CCF is calling on all “enterprises, institutions, and individuals from all walks of life” to contribute to their disaster relief effort.
