Service Victims of Human Trafficking in Italy

In Palermo, the capital city of Sicily, Italy, a group called the Women of Benin City was founded in 2015 by Osas Egbon with other women who were victims of trafficking. This Italian organization operates to serve immigrants to Italy, specifically those who have been victims of human trafficking. The organization, under Ms. Ebgon’s leadership, runs a shelter outside Palermo for women trying to escape their traffickers and, in the face of COVID, also opened up a food bank for the women. Ms. Egbon directs operations alongside other volunteers, and each month they tend to get up to 40 families at the food bank. They distribute essential items such as oil, pasta, rice and tinned foods such as beef and tomatoes.
