Providing Fair Trade and Sustainable Farming in Ghana

As part of an International Solidarity Volunteer (VSI) program, a French volunteer joined FairTrade Africa to work as a project assistant and support fair trade and sustainable farming in Ghana. During her time there, the volunteer supported the organization’s efforts to promote decent work and economic opportunities by improving working conditions and income for smallholder cocoa farmers. Her contribution also helped strengthen sustainable economic growth in rural areas through the implementation of fair trade and agroforestry projects; and enhance the economic inclusion of farming communities by improving access to fair markets and supporting cooperative governance. Thanks to her engagement in supporting the local teams, FairTrade Africa was able to carry out meaningful projects, leading to the realization of SDG 8.
