Spreading Awareness of COVID-19 in Pakistan

In Pakistan, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society aims to service and advocate for change in several sectors related to the UN Development Goals. A taskforce called the Muhafiz Volunteers has been working to spread awareness about the COVID-19 pandemic. Through door-to-door campaigns, demonstrations, partnership with religious institutes, and food delivery, they have contributed to the country’s battle against the virus. Volunteers Usama Mehmood, Maryam Islam, Tahmass Durrani, and Zahra Ghulam covered 24 cities and volunteered their personal time to help combat the pandemic. Tahmass, a focal person for his city’s unit, expressed the struggle to cover ground and spread awareness in the tricky mountainous terrain of his location. He made sure that women were also involved in the taskforce to build trust among the female population.
